Mississauga, ON (January 18, 2010) – The 2010 International Builders’ Show provides the stage for the launch of ICYNENE MD-R-200, a medium density spray foam insulation that delivers the core benefits of a product in its category, plus recycled content and no ozone-depleting blowing agents.

 

ICYNENE MD-R-200 also offers key environmental benefits over conventional medium density spray foam insulation, reflecting Icynene’s continuing efforts to deliver insulation products that minimize their environmental impact in production and application.

MD-R-200 can help take building projects to a higher level of certification within green building programs such as USGBC’s LEED. The product is made with recycled content, contributing toward the achievement of LEED for New Construction credit 4.1 (recycled content requirement).

 

Lowest Possible Global Warming Potential (GWP)

As with all Icynene® products, MD-R-200 uses 100% water-blown technology with the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of 1† rather than synthetic blowing agents, which can have GWP values as high as 950. Icynene does not use synthetic blowing agents in any of its Icynene brand products.

 

Facilitates Quicker Application

ICYNENE MD-R-200 can be applied on a variety of substrates and substrate conditions. In-field applications have also shown ICYNENE MD-R-200 can be installed under a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions.

 

Performance Benefits

As a 2 lb. insulation ICYNENE MD-R-200 delivers high R-value and superior air-sealing performance to create a more energy efficient building. Home and building owners can see savings of up to 50% more than with a conventional, air-permeable insulation.

With its low vapor permeance, MD-R-200 is ideal for use in areas with higher levels of humidity, such as crawlspaces. It is also ideal for projects that require more rigid foam to enhance structural strength.

Icynene’s Complete Portfolio of Foam Insulation Solutions Now Green Approved for the National Green Building Standard™ while ICYNENE MD-R-200™ Receives Prestigious IAPMO Evaluation.

 

 (Mississauga, ON, February 4, 2010) – Icynene received certifications and evaluations on multiple fronts today, solidifying their commitment to portfolio growth, code compliance and environmental leadership. Firstly, ICYNENE LD-C-50™ and MD-R-200™ joined ICYNENE LD-R-50™ as being Green Approved by the National Association of Homebuilders’ (NAHB) Research Center.  Furthermore, ICYNENE MD-R-200™, a medium density spray foam solution has just received an IAPMO evaluation.

 

The NAHB Research Center Green Approved mark is a builder’s assurance that a product is eligible for points toward National Green Building Certification.  Approval is measured based on the National Green Building Standard™, which is the best existing standard for green and sustainable residential projects.

 

To tally up all the potential points that can be earned by using Icynene, builders will be pleased to learn that up to 53 potential points can be awarded for ICYNENE LD-R-50™ with 36 potential points for both ICYNENE LD-C-50™ and MD-R-200™.  To put this in perspective, the maximum number of points that any other insulation product currently earns is 10.

Third Party Testing by ICC-ES SAVE Solidifies Icynene®’s Position as the Industry Leader in Light Density Spray Foam Insulation

 

 (Mississauga, ON April 22, 2010) – Today, Icynene Inc. received a revised and improved 2010 report from ICC Evaluation Services, the highly respected leader in evaluating building products for compliance with code. The report clearly separates Icynene from the rest of the light density spray foam insulation industry in terms of code compliance and beyond code applications.

 

The ICC Evaluation Service has confirmed in the newly revised ICYNENE LD-C-50™ report that:

 

1. In limited access attics, with as much as 14” of insulation on the roof deck and a maximum of 3 ½” on the walls, the foam insulation does NOT need to be coated on either the vertical surfaces OR underside of the roof deck. (See Assembly No.2, Section 4.4.2.2 of ESR 1826)

2. For limited access attics, with more than 3 ½” of insulation on the walls, a new range of products is approved to act as an Ignition Barrier on attic walls including, CAMAX2/ShelterShield, Aldocoat 800 and NoBurn Plus XD. Note that a coating is required on the walls only when the foam exceeds 3 ½ inches. (See Assembly No. 1, Section 4.4.2.1 of ESR 1826)

3. Behind a thermal barrier, thicknesses of 7 ½” in walls and 11 ½” in cathedral ceiling assemblies have been deemed Code Compliant. (See Section 4.3 of ESR1826.)

 

ICC Evaluation Service Report – The Icynene Difference

 

The newly revised ESR-1826 sets ICYNENE LD-C-50 apart from other light density foam products in that it can be left exposed in specified accessible attic applications on both the underside of the roof deck and vertical surfaces.  Furthermore, no other insulation product has as many coating options qualified for use as an ignition barrier.
