TO ACHIEVE GREENGUARD CERTIFICATION

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 17, 2009) – Rubbermaid® wire shelving systems are now the first closet systems to be certified to the GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM standard, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to providing environmentally-friendly products to its consumers. With 69 percent of consumers preferring to buy products certified to improve indoor air quality, and 66 percent of consumers believing that poor indoor air quality impacts their health1, the GREENGUARD certification proves that Rubbermaid considers indoor air quality an important issue.

To achieve GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification, the Rubbermaid products were screened for more than 10,000 different chemicals to confirm the products emit low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including phthalates and formaldehyde. In addition, the ventilated design requires no sealants or paint during installation and improves air circulation, which prevents mold and dust. Made from 100 percent recycled steel, the wire systems are 100 percent recyclable with construction waste.

Rubbermaid wire shelving systems are customizable and available in a variety of styles to accommodate a myriad of storage needs. The Rubbermaid FreeSlide™ wire shelving has an innovative design to allow hangers to glide from wall-to-wall without interruptions, unlike conventional wire shelving which has metal supports every 12 inches. The TightMesh™ wire shelving has closely spaced wires to make the shelf ideal for storing small items, while the Ultra FreeSlide™ wire shelving combines all the benefits of the FreeSlide shelving with the TightMesh shelving.
