WHAT IS THE CONCEPT AWARDS?
Contestants receive a fictitious client and design idea and must complete a home solution within the two days. The problem usually involves site planning, floor plan requirements, and the style of the home. The competitors develop a presentation of floor plans and elevations which are then judged by a panel of industry professionals from the SEBC.
The 2009 Concept Awards Competition Booth was an exhibit hall hit as five designers from the southeast took the "live" design challenge. Convention attendees roamed through the booth to watch the creative process of what goes into a design presentation for a client. The contestants in the manual or the computer approach vied for one of the two Grand Aurora awards to be announced during the Aurora Awards Gala/Spectacular. The entries were judged by an industry panel of professionals and presented Grand Awards to Jim Lucia, Lucia and Monday Architecture and Phil Kean, Phil Kean Designs, both of whom are located in Winter Park, FL.
